Tony Legene Stark

On the morning of July 21, 2024, Dr. Tony L. Stark, 76 of Athens, AL entered the presence of the Lord.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Don Stark and Minnie Stark, his sister, Annette Stark, his brother, John Stark, and his grandson, Avery Stark. He is survived by his wife, Kathy Stark; daughter, Laura Webb; son, Russell Stark; daughter, Jennifer Mitchell; daughter, Sheila Miller; Son, Tony Andrew Stark; grandchildren, Ethan Webb, Caleb Webb, Caroline Webb, Jenna Webb, Caden Louviere, Jack Mitchell, Alissa Mitchell, Ally Miller, Autumn Miller, Anna Miller, Dixie Miller, Joshua Miller Jr., Zoe Miller, Troy Miller, Valentina Stark, Tony Aldo Stark, Alejandro Stark, and Jose Najera.

Dr. Stark was born in Caraway, AR on February 28, 1948. He graduated from Western Illinois University in 1970 with a Bachelor of Business in accounting, Great Plains Baptist College in 1988 with a Master of Education, and Great Plains Baptist College in 1990 with a Doctorate of Ministry.

He served as the Director of East Africa Outreach from 1988-2024. He served as a missionary to Uganda for twenty years and a missionary to Rwanda for eight years. During his time serving as a missionary, he started and pastored two churches, started and directed two Bible Institutes, and started two radio stations. EAO has seen second, third, and fourth generation churches in Uganda, Rwanda, Congo, Sudan, and Burundi as well as Bible Institutes in multiple languages.

Prior to East Africa Outreach, he served as Founding Pastor of Madison Baptist Church, Madison, AL from 1983-1989, Senior Pastor of New Union Baptist Church, Manchester, TN from 1977-1982, and Senior Pastor of Monteagle Baptist Church, Monteagle, TN from 1975-1977. Additionally, Dr. Stark organized Madison Christian Academy in 1984 and organized Madison Bible Institute in 1987.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, missionary, and more. 

The viewing will be Saturday, July 27, 2024, from 12:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. The funeral will be Saturday, July 27, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. Both will be held at Madison Baptist Church, 840 Balch Road Madison, AL 35758. The burial will be private and reserved for the family.
