Shu-Hwa Lin, 87, of Harvest, AL formerly of Starkville, MS, passed away on April 11, 2025 at Huntsville Hospital.

Shu-Hwa was born March 22, 1938 in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, to Dr. Chi-Fong Han and Lee-Yong Han (Wang). She is precedent in death by her husband, Dr. Ying-Nan Lin, parents, three younger brothers, Chung-Zhe Han, Chung-Hong Han, and Daimen Han, and two sisters, Cecelia Chiu and Chu-Hwa Kao. She is survived by her two children, Chin-Zen Plotner (Doug), La Plata, MD and Daniel Lin (Carrie), Madison, AL; three sisters, Yu-Hwa Wang, Durham, NC, Wang-Hwa Chu, and Hong-Hwa Soong, Taiwan; and three grandchildren, Clayton (Leggett) and Montgomery Lin, Huntsville, AL, and Lindsey Plotner, La Plata, MD.

After college graduation and teaching elementary school for several years, Shu-Hwa emigrated to the United States with her husband in the late 1960s. She and her husband lived in Tennessee, Maryland, and Mississippi. She has worked various jobs, but her most memorable and enjoyable position was as a laboratory technician at the horticultural laboratory at Mississippi State University. There, she made many friends and enjoyed being part of the laboratory team. After retiring from Mississippi State University, she moved to Harvest, AL to be closer to her family.

Shu-Hwa’s greatest joy was her family, especially her three grandchildren. She enjoyed doting on, playing with, and taking care of her grandchildren when they were young. Her hobbies included gardening, traveling, working on puzzles and visiting with friends.

A small service will be held at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Starkville, MS early this summer. More information to follow.
