Sharon Ann Myers
July 4, 1943 – February 23, 2025
After a beautifully lived life full of love, laughter, kindness, and strength, our cherished wife, sister, mother, and Nana, Sharon Myers, passed away peacefully in Madison, AL on the evening of February 23, 2025. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of almost 38 years, Bob, their children and their spouses, Mike and Madeline Hardacre, Missy and Ross Estabrook, Nikki and Don Kincaid, and Brad and Johnna Myers, their 10 grandchildren Hannah, Ethan, Holden, Claire, Miles, Harrison, Mallory, Sophie, Morgan, and Anna, and her beloved sister and brother-in-law Jodie and Terry Knecht and their family. Sharon now joins her parents Robert Bishop and Jean (Cullers) Bishop and her brother Mick Bishop.
Born July 4, 1943, in Columbia City, IN, Sharon, or Skipper as her Dad called her as a child, was a firecracker from the start with a quick wit, a passion for learning, and a kindness that touched the lives of all who knew her. She grew up in the small town of South Whitley, IN where she graduated from South Whitley High School in 1961 and then went to Purdue University to pursue her dream of becoming a teacher, receiving her BS in Spanish and English Education in 1965. She started her teaching career in Anderson, IN and then spent the majority of her over 30 years of teaching English and Spanish at Western High School in Kokomo, IN where she touched the lives of countless students, colleagues, and community members. She went on to receive an MA in English and Spanish Education and shared her love of literature and reading with all her grandchildren in the many books she purchased for and read to them over the years.
She and her husband Bob were active members of their church, Madison Methodist Church, and enjoyed fellowship with their friends in the Mere Christians Bible Study. Throughout their marriage they traveled the world together and shared a love of food, wine, friends, family, and fun – taking each of their 10 grandchildren to Disneyland for their 5th birthdays – making a lifetime of memories that as a breast cancer survivor for over 30 years were her greatest treasures – the gift of time, love, and laughter she shared with her precious family and friends!
To commemorate her incredible journey and celebrate the love she spread, a memorial service will be held on:
