Roger Allen Quick passed away on February 14, 2025, in Madison, Alabama. He was born on March 15, 1946, in Rock Hill, South Carolina, to Ed and Carrie Quick and grew up in Gastonia, North Carolina.

Roger is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Franklin Quick and Nelson Quick. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Sybil Kathleen Quick; his children, Jeffory Quick and Elizabeth Acord; four grandchildren; his brothers, Larry Quick and Tim Quick; his sister, Penny Detweiler; and many nieces and nephews.

As a young man, Roger enjoyed playing sports and was a Boy Scout. His strong work ethic began early—he worked as a shoeshine boy at a local barbershop before taking a job at the cotton mill when he was old enough. After graduating high school, he joined the United States Air Force, serving in Maryland and Alaska. A dedicated provider, he sent much of his military earnings home to support his mother and younger siblings. His service extended beyond active duty, as he spent a total of 18 years with the military through the Air National Guard and Army National Guard.

Following his military career, Roger dedicated 35 years to government service with the Department of Defense (DOD), the Naval Security Group Activity (NSGA), and the National Park Service. His commitment to hard work and service was evident throughout his life.

Roger had a natural talent for working with his hands. Whether woodworking, building projects, or repairing cars, he found joy in staying busy with practical tasks. Though he was a man of few words, when he spoke, people listened—his words were thoughtful, logical, and often right.

He embraced life fully and encouraged others to do the same. He enjoyed simple pleasures like taking walks, listening to music, fishing, playing golf, and spending time with family. Known for his generosity, Roger would help anyone in need—even if it meant giving them the clothes off his back.

Roger passed away as he lived—on his own terms and surrounded by those he loved. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
