Paula Leatherwood

Ruby Paula Davis Leatherwood, loving wife and mother, passed away on December 25, 2023, at her home in Athens, AL. She was born to the late Rayford and Mildred Davis on September 24, 1956, in Tampa, Florida. After graduating from Bob Jones High School in Madison, Alabama, Paula earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Alabama, Huntsville. After receiving certification as a medical coder, she worked in the healthcare system for several years. Paula married the love of her life, Dock Leatherwood, in 1979, and they lived in Huntsville, Madison, and finally Athens, Alabama. Together, they owned and operated a flooring company for 40 years until retiring in 2020.

Paula was a strong, active Christian with a discerning spirit who lived out her faith in God with tremendous compassion and generosity. Those who knew her were touched by her kindness, keen sense of humor, and adventurous spirit. Paula was devoted to her family, friends, and fur babies, Tiger and Leeo.

Paula is survived by her beloved husband of 44 years, Dock Leatherwood, of Athens and her loving son, Chase Leatherwood, of Huntsville. She was preceded in death by her cherished mother, Mildred Davis, her brother, Jimmy Fallen, and her sister, Jackie Ackridge.

The family will be privately remembering and celebrating Paula's Life.
