Mia Valenzuela was born and raised in Seoul, South Korea, and the daughter of Retired CW4 Miguel Rosa-Rosario and Hyang KuK RosaRosario. Mia had an amazing childhood abroad as a military brat and attend school and graduated from the International Christian School (ICS) in 1997. Mia then pursued her next adventure and attended college at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) and enrolled in ROTC, receiving her commission as a 2nd LT in the United States Army in 2001.

Mia's first assignment, she returned back in South Korea and was assigned to the 2nd Forward Support Battalion (FSB), 2nd Brigade Combat Team (BCT), 2nd Infantry Division (ID). Mia's adventure and service to our country continued as she her unit was deployed to Iraq serving a full combat tour holding numerous positions as the Shop Officer and then transitioned during the deployment to the Transportation Officer. Upon redeployment Mia unit's returned and assigned to Fort Carson, CO, and redesignated under the 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team (IBCT).  Mia's was promoted to Captain (CPT) and assumed the position of the Brigade Support Battalion (BSB) Maintenance Officer and later moved to assume the BSB S-4 Officer. Mia completed her four-year year service obligation and transitioned from active duty to a U.S. Army Reserve Unit at Fort Carson, CO, where she served an additional two years before completing her service obligation.

Mia and her husband Martin Valenzuela are the proud parents of the most amazing child Alexander Valenzuela and following a few years later moved to Madison, AL in 2014, where her adventure continued and transitioning to a new life with a new career as Certified Real Property Residential Appraiser. Mia is survived by her husband Martin and her son Alexander and remain in Madison.

Mia Valenzuela passed away on January 7, 2024. To know Mia, her family and friends would describe her as warm, sincere, selfless, loving devoted Christian who always places everyone's needs before hers. She only saw the good in everyone that she ever met and always encouraged and motivated everyone. She always brought out the best in each person she ever met and to be around her made you want to be a better person in life! Mia will always remain in our hearts and will always be loved by family and friends alike.
