It is with much sadness the family of Elizabeth (“Liz”) Hatchett of Huntsville announces her passing after an illness on February 20, 2023. She was born on June 8, 1931, and was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar C. and Mildred Pettigrew, her brother Charles Pettigrew and her husband, O.J. (“Bill”) Hatchett. Mrs. Hatchett is survived by three daughters, Samantha Hatchett, Lisa McKinney and Kathy (Steven) Adkins; three grandchildren, Jessica (Matt) Tollefson, Chris (Renee) Gore and Sam Adkins; and six great grandchildren, Ana, Alex and Conor Gore and Maylene, Bruce and Jack Tollefson, as well as numerous friends. Mrs. Hatchett loved her family dearly as was evident by the many photos displayed on the walls and about her home. She was a member of Pleasant Springs Baptist Church in Huntsville. She enjoyed her days working with her beautiful plants and flowers, taking care of her home and her beloved cat, Caleb. She enjoyed reading, especially her Bible and books by Billy Graham. She looked forward to her outings with each of her daughters. She loved talking to people and never met a stranger. She was always up to date with current events and did not shy away from voicing her opinions. Her smile, encouraging words, wisdom, and warm hugs will be dearly missed. Heaven has gained one of a kind and we are thankful she is with her savior Jesus Christ. A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, she would have loved a donation be made to her favorite charity, St. Jude Children's Hospital
