Marie Pruett’s Remembrance Obituary: May 4th, 1937 to June 13th, 2023

In loving memory of my Mom, Marie Ann Pruett, who was the glue of our family, loving us all fully and unconditionally. She was a caring listener and gifted conversationalist making it easy to talk with her about anything. She always tried to make family time fun and interesting. She had many ideas and enjoyed completing home projects. We’re especially thankful for one of her very special projects which was making unique photo albums for each son and each grandchild. When visiting PattiCake Grandma (as the grandkids lovingly called her) and Grandpa, the grandchildren would always excitedly run to see their photo albums. They would be entertained for hours viewing them. She would cut out photos and arrange them in unique ways and paste in funny captions next to many of the pictures. It’s one of the many things she did to let her loved ones know they were special. Mom was very independent and driven but she was also a great partner.  She worked a job outside the home most of her life until the age of 63 to help the family live nicely. Mom was well matched with my dad as the hardest working people I’ve ever known. They worked hard both at work and at home but still made time for fun, entertaining friends and family at home, hosting parties and card games. My Mom and Dad also worked hard to keep a very loving marriage for 65 years. From beginning to end, you could easily tell that they loved each other very much.

Marie Ann Pruett was the daughter of the late Julius and Ann Malin, and Step Mom, Catherine Heerey-Malin. She was a wonderful wife to Gene Pruett, married November 2, 1957, and mother to three sons, the late Daniel Pruett, Tom Pruett, (daughter in law Amy, grandchildren: Amanda, Jennifer Marie, {great granddaughter Soleia Marie}, and Mya), Robert Pruett (daughter in law Diane, grandchildren: Bobby, John {great granddaughter Hadley}, and Andy).

Marie and Gene lived in Illinois for 61 years before moving to Leesburg, Florida where they enjoyed the warmer climate while living in a 55+ gated community called The Royal Highlands in a home with a beautiful water view that they enjoyed immensely. They loved it there and enjoyed entertaining many friends, playing card games, and were very active in the community because Marie was quite the social butterfly. She loved talking about the adventures she had with her sorority sisters and other clubs in the community. Over the years, she and Gene enjoyed many experiences together and with friends, including traveling overseas, weekend getaways, and cruises. On May 31st, 2022 they moved to Madison, Alabama to be close to their son Robert and his family. This location made it easier for both her sons to spend more time with them.

Mom will be missed but we know that she’s in a better place now and free of pain and the limitations of living in this world because of her FAITH in God and our Savior Jesus Christ. We will never forget how much she loved each of us and we will keep her memory alive as we remember that she is with us always in our hearts and we look forward to the day that we will be reunited in heaven.

A Memorial Devotion taken from Scripture, inspired by God’s Holy Spirit, the Word of our Almighty God to My Faithful Mom. From your son, Tom, who will always remember you and love you forever. ”Don’t ever forget that Mom!”  (:

Revelation21:4 God will wipe away every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning, or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.

Roman 3:9-12 All have turned aside, together they have gone wrong; no one does good, not even one. Without a Savior we are all ruled by sin. We have no inclination to seek God. None of our deeds is good.

Romans 10:9-10 That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and you believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame.

John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.

Ephesians 2:8-9 For it is by grace you have been saved, through FAITH-and this is not from yourselves, it is a gift from God-not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s handiwork created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

For God revealed his plan through Jesus as the Son of the living God and the Son of Man who paved the path to heaven for us for by paying for all of our sins, past, present, and future on the cross. He was born, lived a sinless, blameless life, was crucified, died, rose from the dead, ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father according to the Scriptures. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and His Kingdom shall have no end. Thus, sin and death shall have no hold on us who believe. We are saved by FAITH by God’s mercy and grace. So, we must die a physical death also so that we all can rise to heaven the same way that Jesus did as told and witnessedEd in the Scriptures.

John 14:1-3 Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe in me also. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.

John 5:24 Vey truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes in Him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over death to life. Very truly I tell you, a time is coming and has come when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God and those who hear will live.

2 Timothy 3:16-17 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

I pray all of these Scripture verses over everyone who is not yet a believer to turn to God and believe in His plan and His will that we all be in relationship with God who made us in His image and likeness and that we be reconciled and restored by God through Jesus to be reunited in heaven together with the gift of salvation- eternal life. God gave us free will to choose. I earnestly pray for everyone to choose God and His Son, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is seen and unseen.

Thanks be to God!

I pray this all in Jesus’ precious name.

Amen!
