Herman L. Neese, Jr. October 22, 1958 – February 8, 2025 

Herman Lebaron Neese, Jr., passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, February 8, 2025, in Madison, AL at the age of 66. Herman was a devoted husband, father, and an accomplished, and highly-respected developer, who left behind a legacy of dedication, leadership, love and faith. He was passionate about his work, and proud of all he had accomplished in his career. Herman L. Neese, Jr. was proceeded in death by his father, Herman L Neese, Sr. and his brother, Frank Miguel (Mickey) Neese; He is survived by his mother; Helen Neese, his loving wife of 17 years, Michelle Wills Neese, his sons: Joseph Alexander Neese and Michael Thomas (Katie) Neese and his daughter Ava Michelle Neese; his granddaughter Virginia Anne Neese; his brother Manuel Alexander (Lynn) Neese, nephew Nicholas Neese and niece Ashleigh (Carson) Tierce, and a host of cousins, family, and friends.

Herman was born in Mobile, Alabama. He was a long-time resident of Mobile, AL and San Destin, Miramar Beach, FL before moving to Madison, AL in 2011. After graduating from University Military School in 1977, he attended the University of South Alabama and graduated with a BA in finance in 1981. 

After graduating he moved to Houston, TX to work for Gerald Hines Development, then he returned to Mobile to continue working in Commercial Development for Mitchell Company, he went on to build Beach Condominiums in Panama Beach, FL as well as working with one of his best friends Lee Brumfield, together they owned Commercial Properties, . Lee was like another brother to him whom he spoke with almost every day until Lee’s death almost four years to the day prior to Herman.

He joined Breland Companies where he was President of Commercial Development. He enjoyed working with Louis Breland in developing Town Madison and Clift Farm and he was thankful to Louis for both the opportunity of developing these projects and for his continued support after his cancer diagnosis. He attended St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, and his faith sustained him during his fight with cancer. 

His hobbies included spending time and traveling with his family, walking and running with his wife, playing the guitar, and working hard on his developments. His unwavering commitment to his family was evident in every aspect of his life, and he cherished every moment spent with them.

A service to honor Herman’s life will be held Saturday, February 15, 2025 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 1055 Hughes Road Madison, AL 35758, with visitation from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the church, with Mass starting at 11:30 a.m. Following the Mass, a reception will be held at 1280 Zierdt Road, Madison, AL. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the following charity: American Cancer Society https://donate.cancer.org/?campaign=fcat
