Charles William Mussleman, Jr.
May 18, 1938 – January 18, 2024
Charles William Mussleman Jr. (85 yrs.) passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, in his Madison, AL, home on January 18, 2024.
Charles was born May 18, 1938, to Charles William, Sr., and Helen Mussleman of Florence, AL. His sister Patricia was born in 1946.
In the ninth grade, Charles first met his wife, Hilda Fulford Mussleman, at Mars Hill Bible School. However, Hilda and her family moved back to DeFuniak Springs, FL, and Charles transferred to Rogers High School to play basketball. While at Rogers High School, Charles was selected as Mr. Rogers High, his senior year.
Charles attended Freed Hardeman College and graduated with an associate degree in May 1959. Upon graduating from Freed Hardeman, Charles and Hilda married on June 23, 1959.
Charles spent his career in sales and marketing and retired in 2006 after more than 47 years. However, Charles’ legacy is built upon the love and leadership that he gave his Lord, family, and community.
Charles served as a deacon for West Huntsville Church of Christ and Mayfair Church of Christ. He was a Madison Academy Board of Directors member during many difficult years when Madison Academy struggled to stay open.
Most importantly, Charles was a great example to his children and grandchildren. Charles was preceded in death by his and Hilda’s first son, Gregory Charles (1968), his father, Charles William, Sr. (1987), and his mother, Helen (2010). He is survived by his wife of 64.5 years, Hilda Fulford Mussleman, and his three children, Gary Mussleman (Kathy), Dwight Mussleman (Katherine), and Shelli Haynes (Chad). He was a beloved “PaPa” to seven grandchildren (Dustin Allison, Chase, Chandler, Anna, Dylan, Nikayla, and Tyler) and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at Madison Church of Christ, at 556 Hughes Road, on Saturday, January 27, 2024. Visitation will be 10:00 – 11:00 AM. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM. There will be a private burial at Maple Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, TN, or Madison Church of Christ Mission Fund.
