Cecile Olsen Brown

Cecile Olsen Brown of Madison, AL passed away at age 84 on October 11, 2024. Cecile was the beloved mother of Donna & Joel (husband) Patterson and Ron & Nancy (wife) Olsen. She so loved her grandchildren Christine, Amanda, Erica, Jennifer, David, Alex and Nikolas. She was treasured as Nana/great-grandmother by Ian, Brynlin, Robinson, Shea, Hadley, Sadie, Carly, Luke, Jillian and Grayson. 

She was preceded in death by her first husband Angelo Olsen and second husband JW Brown. As the second youngest of 10 children her father Marcel LaPlace had a special heart for her. She embraced her Catholic faith and loved life, family, home and the holidays. 

Christmas was her very favorite time of year where she went all out to celebrate. She enjoyed donating to the casinos too and always won in her own way. She loved her New York life and family and assimilated to the South as a homeowner in Huntsville and adopted Bama fan. After retirement from health care services, she volunteered in the hospital. Her spirit for life was demonstrated as the life of a party, great cook and words of wisdom. Her spice was shared in her early days from hosting the Saturday night card games on Bradley Avenue to coffee with her friends in her home circles, and then later sharing her enthusiasm for fun at The Neighborhood at Madison, Senior Living. 

Cecile loved movies and cherished her pet dogs. She will also be remembered for her toughness, giving spirit, taking care of business, and being a true beloved mother-in-law, aunt, sister-in-law, cousin, and friend. Her legacy is all the above, and much more, as captured through the sparkling gifts that she left behind. 

A celebration of life service will be held Friday, October 18, 2024, 2:00 pm, at Legacy Chapel Funeral Home, 16 Hughes Road, Madison, Alabama, with Pastor Fr. Bryan K. Lowe officiating from St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to her favorite charity Boys Town, saving children as a National Research Hospital.
