Billy Wayne Boland, 88, of Madison, Alabama passed away Sunday, March 26, 2023. He was born in Calhoun City, Mississippi to William (Pete) and Leila Boland on January 23, 1935. He is survived by his wife, Hertha Joy Boland, daughter Karen M. Clanton and her husband Byron Clanton, granddaughter Nicole Mack Redeker and her husband Stephen Redeker, and two great grandsons West and Jax Redeker.
Bill and Joy met in high school, and to their parents’ surprise, eloped in 1954. They were blessed with 69 years of love, laughter, and friendship.
In 1956, Bill was stationed in Huntsville while on active duty with the U.S. Army. As a civilian, he spent over 45 years working as a logistics engineer for the HAWK Project Office, U.S. Army Missile Command. During these years he had the opportunity to travel the world and loved to share stories of his adventures.
Bill was a dedicated family man who always put friends and family first. He never knew a stranger and it took only minutes for people to be drawn to the twinkle in his eyes that mirrored his kind and caring nature, and ongoing sense of humor. He will be missed more than words can say.
