Mr. Bartehqua Nimely Wisseh, Sr.:
“A Christian and Generous Community Patriot”

On Thursday, November 30, 1944, the late Bartehqua Nimely Wisseh was born unto the union of Mr. Bartehqua Matthew and Mrs. Seyennoh Alice Wefueh Wisseh in Pinicess, Kru Coast Territory, Liberia, West Africa. Bartehqua is one of six children; two boys (Klay & Bartehqua Nimely); four sisters: Nyannowisseh, Gbeah, Juah and Nyannongba. Both of his parents are deceased.
Bartehqua and Rebecca met December 1969; in 1970, they got married traditionally and on February 24, 1979, they had a Christian wedding at St. Thomas Chapel, New Kru Town; Father J. Dwalo Kimba was the officiating minister; their union lasted for 53 years.
In the early 60’s Bartehqua graduated from high school in Montserrado, County, Liberia. March 1980, Bartehqua travelled to the U.S; the following year in April 1981, Rebecca joined him to Salisbury, North Carolina. He was employed at Erick Anders and Cannon Mills Manufacturing Plant, located in Kannapolis, North Carolina.
Having stayed in Salisbury for two years, Bartehqua his family was invited by Rebecca’s cousin, Mr. Siahyonkron Nyanseor to Atlanta, Georgia to live. In Georgia, the Wisseh’s lived in College Park; later on, they purchased a house in Clarkston, a suburb of Atlanta, Georgia.
In Georgia, Bartehqua worked full time, and was enrolled at Beulah Heights Bible College, Atlanta on a part-time basis where he took several courses in Theology. In Liberia, Bartehqua was an active member at St. Thomas Chapel, where he served as Men’s president, lay reader, etc.
A Christian and Generous Community Patriot
Bartehqua was the only person among his peers who was referred to as ‘MR’ – Mr. Wisseh. His kindness towards others was beyond measures. He was known to pay apartment rent, pay Ma Bell telephone bills, loan money to friends that were having financial problems. In addition, Mr. Wisseh’s home became the weekend gathering for entertainment.
Mr. Bartehqua Nimely Wisseh, Sr. transitioned from labor to rest after a prolong illness, was placed in hospice care at home. On the morning hour of Thursday, May 18, 2023, he transitioned from labor to rest at the age of 79.
Mr. Wisseh’s religion is Episcopalian. Favorable Hymns are “How Great Thou Art” and “Pass Me Not, O Gentle Savior”. His Favorable Bible Verses are: John 14:1-8 NIV (6:1) “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” and The 23rd Psalm 1 – 6.
Mr. Bartehqua Nimely Wisseh, Sr. leaves to mourn his home going 14 children, 6 males and 8 females.

In addition, Mr. Bartehqua Nimely Wisseh, Sr., leaves to mourn his home going his grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephew Mr. Ebenezer Tehqua Sartiah, (wife) Mrs. Victoria Sartiah.

Klay Cassius Wisseh, Jr. (Male), Jaden Sayvion Wilson (Male), Brionna Symone Williams (Female), Andre Anthony Cross, Jr. (Male), Nia Ariann Wilson (Female), Christian Emery Williams (Male), Antonio Lavan Hughes Jr. (Male), Ruth Wisseh (Female), Gabriel Alexander Townes (Male) and Genesis Wisseh (Female).

Walleh Wisseh, Jr. (Female), Amanda Wisseh (Male or Female), Campbeline Wisseh (Female), Prayer Wisseh (Male or Female), Mondaye Ma Wisseh (Female), Klaye Wisseh (Male), Tehkwa Wisseh (Male) and Boyah Wisseh (Male).
Also, there are cousins, nephews and nieces too numerous to list that are in the United States and Liberia, West Africa.
Farewell Mr. Bartehqua Nimely Wisseh, Sr., you will be truly and deeply missed because of your “Christian and Generous Community Patriotism”. Your legacy and invaluable contributions to your family, relatives and humanity will forever be remembered.
Mr. Wisseh as he is commonly referred to will be laid to rest on Saturday, May 27, 2023 at: 10:00 AM - Legacy Chapel, 16 Hughes Road, Madison, Alabama, USA 35758.
Your wife of 53 years whom you referred to as Becky and the children will miss you; but God loves you best. May your soul and the souls of all our predeceased relatives rest in perpetual peace!
