Annie Ruth Terrell of Huntsville, Alabama, born February 2, 1941, passed away at home on February 13, 2023 at the age of 82.
She told stories of how early in life she grew up beside the railroad tracks and the train conductor would throw candy out to them. Being the oldest daughter, she became the baby sitter for her siblings and cousins, including when before becoming a teenager she had to go to Tennessee to babysit her cousins for a couple weeks during a family crisis. She remembered helping chop cotton in her teenage years. As an adult, she met her husband while working at Genesco. Later in life she enjoyed sewing for grandkids and great grandkids including making blankets and quilts for each. Annie was loved by her family.
She is survived by her daughters Teresa Bagnall (Fred) and Myra Curtis (Ron); three grandsons, Kevin Curtis (Megan), Phillip Bagnall, and Caleb Curtis (Amber); seven great grandchildren, Hannabeth, Michael, Zadie, Ryleigh, Caleb Jr, Lorelei, and James; her brother, Charles Hill (Delores); and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Elsie Hill; two children, Vickie and Rickey Robison; her husband, James Terrell; her brothers Jimmie Hill and Terry Hill; and her grandson, Jeremiah Curtis.
In addition to sewing, she enjoyed, working in her flower gardens and spending time with her family and friends. Bird-watching was another hobby. Her favorites were cardinals and hummingbirds. She would keep hummingbird feeders filled and spent many hours watching the birds and squirrels from her front porch. In the back yard, she spent time watching the finches with their babies nesting in gourds she had put up. Annie Ruth was loved as a wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister and will be missed by her family and friends.
