Amy Suzanne Leveritt Steele

Beloved wife, mother, daughter, teacher, and baptized child of Jesus Christ, Amy Suzanne Leveritt Steele passed peacefully into glory on April 15, 2025. Faced with a prolonged battle with cancer, Amy fought the good fight with endurance, patience, strength, and grace. Her help was truly in the name of the Lord, who made Heaven and Earth. Amy passed peacefully in her home in Madison, attended and surrounded by dear friends and family. Through her faith in Jesus Christ, she faced her ordeal unafraid and uncomplaining.

Amy was born to Bryan and Joyce Leveritt on January 24, 1977, in Mobile, Alabama. She was a graduate of Satsuma High School in Satsuma, Alabama. She attended the University of South Alabama in Mobile, and graduated from Athens State University with an education degree.

Amy was a life-long teacher, and loved to share that gift with every child she met. Amy taught at public schools in Madison and Huntsville, but soon moved on and dedicated her efforts to homeschooling her children. She was active in Classical Conversations communities in the Huntsville, Alabama area and in Gig Harbor, Washington. Amy was also an active leader in American Heritage Girls and served in the altar guild at Faith Lutheran church in Madison.

Amy was a devoted wife and blessed her husband with four wonderful, christian children. They each learned the faith and how to read and write at her knee. She was immensely proud of them and taught them by example of living in faith as much as by their lessons. Amy never went anywhere without a smile and a crochet project. Her hands were always at work. She brought joy with her all her days no matter the situation. She made friends everywhere she went. Her love was evident in everything she touched and was at the center of the home she made for her family.

Amy was preceded in death by her younger brother Michael Leveritt and her father-in-law Danny Ray Steele.

Amy is survived by her husband Michael; her four children Grace, Alex, Gus, and Violet; her mother Joyce Boshell (David), father Bryan Leveritt; brothers Marc Leveritt and Alan Leveritt.

Visitation will be held Saturday, April 19, 2025 at Legacy Chapel in Madison, Alabama at 4 PM. A service will follow at Legacy Chapel at 6 PM, presided by Pastor Mark Moldenhauer of Faith Lutheran Church. Interment will follow on Monday April 21, 2025 in a private ceremony at Ford’s Chapel Cemetery in Harvest.
