Floris Adams Freeman

Floris Adams Freeman passed away peacefully at home Dec 11, 2022. She was born to Ernest Morton Adams Sr. and Jessie Lewis Adams. She is survived by her husband, Russell Bottom Freeman, her children, Roxane Robertson (Bill), Stephen Freeman, Teresa Walker, and Leila Freeman. She is also survived by her sisters Judy Detloff and Kay Franks (Bill), and brother Mort Adams (Melvina). Granny Flo is survived by her grandchildren Cameron Robertson, Jessica Jones (Tom), Kristen Lawing (Jon), Adriana Hoover (Dustin), Chase Freeman, Natasha Wheaton (Henry), Alex Tcherneshoff, Jake Walker, Savannah Walker and great grandchildren Isabella Jones, Webb and Rhett Lawing, Stephen Hoover, and Diana Wheaton. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Myrna Collier, and grandson Nicholas Walker.

Floris was a homemaker and community volunteer for several years, specifically with the Lincoln Village girl’s club. She decided to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Alabama in Huntsville, graduating with honors in 1976. She became Director of Nurses at North Alabama Regional Hospital which was the area’s only psychiatric hospital. After she retired from nursing, she published several genealogy books and one about her daughter Roxane’s stroke. In her spare time, she loved to paint, sew, cross stitch and needlepoint. Her many cross stitched, beaded angels are stunningly beautiful. 

Visitation will be Thursday, December 15, 2022 at Legacy Chapel Funeral Home in Madison, Alabama starting at 11:00 am. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 pm with her brother, Reverend Mort Adams officiating.
