Daniel Paul Pruett

June 29, 1959 — October 22, 2022

In loving memory of Daniel Paul Pruett, who was a special gift bringing joy to our family and to anyone lucky enough to meet him. Danny was the oldest of three sons. His brother Tom (wife Amy, children Amanda, Jennifer [great niece Soleia] & Mya) was born 13 months to the day after Danny was born. His brother Robert was born about 8 years later (wife Diane, children: Bobby, John [great niece Hadley], and Andy). Danny’s parents, Gene and Marie gave Danny the freedom and independence to do many things that children with a disability wouldn’t normally dare do or couldn’t do. They brought him up like their other 2 sons. Danny seized the opportunity to live life to its fullest. “Dan the Man”, as he loved to be called, was a very social person who was known and loved by everyone he came in contact with throughout his life. Danny lived in Illinois for his first 40 years. He attended AERO, a special education school that partnered with Reavis High School, where he received his diploma. After graduation, Danny was proud to work as a janitor at Bruce Gray company for the next 20+ years. Dan enjoyed retirement and country club living with his parents in a 50+ gated community in Leesburg, Florida for 23 wonderful years before moving to Madison, Alabama in June of this year. Dan never met a stranger and Gene and Marie were often fondly told when meeting new people in their Royal Highland’s community, “Oh, so you’re Danny’s parents”. Danny was in great physical shape due to his his beloved daily routine of biking to the club every day to swim, play pool, lift weights, and, of course, to socialize. The older men in the community adopted Danny into their billiard’s teams and Danny’s team won a rather large trophy which Danny proudly displayed on his bedroom dresser. He was considered “one the guys” and loved playing pool. Though he enjoyed his independence, Dan was a great help to his parents around the house and shared a special bond with them both. Danny shared a special relationship with his godparents, Uncle Dick and Aunt Sandy and his cousin, Hazel along with his many aunts, uncles and cousins. Danny was loved by many and will be missed beyond measure!
