Anne P. Tiernan, 89, of Huntsville, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday. She was born to the late Maurice J. and Anne Q. Parnin and was a native of Wellesley, Massachusetts. Mrs. Tiernan graduated from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and met her husband of 49 years at Florida State University. She was a registered clinical dietitian and spent many years of her career at Huntsville Hospital. Mrs. Tiernan was a 43-year parishioner of Our Lady, Queen of the Universe Catholic Church. She was involved in numerous ministries, including Prayer Shawl Ministry, Eucharistic Minister, and Rosary Ministry. She and her husband were part of a group who crafted stained glass windows for the church. She was an avid reader and enjoyed her memberships in LearningQUEST and Friends of the Library. Her quiet strength, sense of humor, and strong faith were a blessing to her family.
Mrs. Tiernan was predeceased by her husband Leo Tiernan, granddaughter Tera Morris, and brothers John J. and Gerald T. Parnin. She is survived by her sister Barbara (Mike) Klyszeiko of Morgan Hill, CA, children Peggy Tiernan of Huntsville, Pat (Patrick) Morris of Hoover, Paula (Dennis) Singleterry of Clara, MS, Kathleen (Jack) Bice of Harvest, and Chris (Annan) Tiernan of Huntsville. She is survived by grandchildren Sam Campos, Abby and Jamie Morris, Denny (Regan), Alyssa, and Mollie Singleterry, Jack Bice, Will and Annie Tiernan, and nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
Visitation will be held Saturday, July 23 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Our Lady, Queen of the Universe Catholic Church. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at noon. Inurnment will be at Prince of Peace Catholic Church Columbarium in Hoover on July 24 at 12:30 pm.
