Kent Anthony Thompson, Sr., 58, passed away in Madison, Alabama on Tuesday, June 28th, 2022. He was born in Cherokee Alabama to Zebedee, Sr. and Ola B. Thompson on June 11th, 1964. Kent was the third youngest of ten children and was preceded in death by his youngest sister, Laton and his Father. Kent is survived by his mother Ola B. Thompson, wife Donna, his son Kent Jr. (Ra’Dysha) and grandson Jack and his two daughters Alyson and Kayla; his sisters Gloria, Cathy, Virginia, Sara, Carol, Sherry; two brothers, James and Zeba Dee Jr. and several nieces and nephews. He graduated from Cherokee High School in 1982, where he participated in basketball, football and track. Following High School, Kent joined the Army in 1984, where he met his loving wife Donna, who was also stationed in South Korea. Kent and Donna were married in 1991 in Salinas, California, before settling in the Southeast. His career path spanned from Insurance, to Banking, and most recently, Real Estate. Kent faithfully devoted his life to Christian service. He served as an Elder and Youth Leader at North River Community Church in Lawrenceville Georgia. After moving to Madison, Alabama in 2004, Kent became a member of Asbury United Methodist Church and served as a Youth and Mission Leader, Usher/Greeter and many other roles. An avid lover of music and the performing arts, Kent took to the stage for the first time in 2007 as part of the Asbury UMC theater. Through men’s ensemble, theater performances and spoken word, his voice and smile were known to many. Kent’s love for God and compassion for others has made an impact on all whose lives he touched and he will be deeply missed.
On Tuesday, July 5, 2022, a visitation and funeral service will be hosted by Asbury United Methodist Church at 980 Hughes Rd, Madison, AL 35758.
The visitation will be from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM. The service will begin at 3:00 PM.
