Clifford Carlton Landress

October 1, 1929 — June 18, 2022

Clifford Carlton Landress was born October 1, 1929 in Lake Wales, Florida to LeGrand Landress and Martha Hutchins Landress.  He served in the US Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1952.  He returned to Miami and went back to attending The Salvation Army Miami Edison Corps.  The Officer in Charge was Lt . Evangeline Layne.  Under her ministry, Cliff was reclaimed for the Lord, and in a few months, felt the call to be a Salvation Army Officer.  He graduated from The Salvation Army School for Officer’s Training in 1954.  Cliff and Evangeline married on December 15, 1955.  They served together in many appointments with The Salvation Army.  Going to night school, Cliff earned his Bachelor of Business Administration Degree at Georgia State University.  He later served as the Asst. Executive Director of Goodwill Industries of South Florida, as The Salvation Army’s Director of Correctional Services in Miami Dade County, Florida, and as Executive Director to The Salvation Army Area Commander in Houston, Texas.   Cliff was a gifted Euphonium player and played in the Florida National Guard Band, multiple Salvation Army Bands, and the Waynesville, NC Community Band.  He was happily married for just short of 63 years, until Evangeline was Promoted to Glory in 2018.  He became a member of the Crosspointe Church in Madison, AL in 2019.

His legacy continues with three daughters:  Angela Karen Landress of Pearland, TX, Joyce Colleen Bergen of Huntsville, AL, and Anita Carole Projahn of Oviedo, FL.  Six grandchildren include Aaron Keith Bergen, Cliff Raymond Bergen, Megan Ashley Villareal, Bethany Ro Projahn, Matthew Scott Projahn, and Christopher Raymond Projahn.; and three great grandchildren:  Natalie Brooke Bergen, Hadley Erin Bergen, and Adalyn Elisa Villareal.
