Charles Joseph Borum, age 92 of Madison, Alabama passed away on May 5, 2022. He was born on September 21, 1929 in Bessemer, Alabama to Charles Curtis Borum and Myrtice M Hogg. Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Johnson Borum and sister Judy Rogers.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Dean Borum of Madison, Al, his daughter Beverly Ann Carroll (John) of St Leonard, Maryland, his sons Charles Borum Jr (Phyllis) of Pulaski, TN and Barry Glenn Borum of Cullman, Alabama. Also surviving are grandsons; Clint Borum (Amy) of Columbia, TN, Cory Borum (Lorie) of Spring Hill, TN, Curtis Borum (Elizabeth) of Opelika, Al, Brian Carroll (Kelley) and Adam Carroll of Maryland, granddaughter; Sunny Borum of Auburn, Al, great grandchildren; Gauge Borum, Reagan Borum, Mack Borum, Finn Borum, Lillie Johnston, Chase Borum, Carlee Borum, Melinda Carroll, Ainsley Carroll.
Charlie served thirty years in the U.S. Army Engineers Missile Command and was instrumental in the design and implementation of the Pershing Missile Defense System across the world, retiring with the rank of Colonel. Charlie was a private engineering consultant for nearly 10 years after his military retirement.
Charlie was a Deacon at Mt. Zion Baptist Church for over 40 years and served on the building committee and was instrumental in the design and construction of three large scale building projects with the church.
Charlie Borum was a graduate of Auburn University School of Engineering. His love and support of Auburn University was unwavering. He was a member of ROTC and a proud member of the Auburn Wrestling Team. He was also proud that multiple members of his immediate family attended and graduated from Auburn University.
Several of his hobbies included, but are definitely not limited to; beekeeping, machinist work, carpentry, leather work, hunting, fishing, gardening, building and designing. He enjoyed spending time in the outdoors and with family at the lake.
