Frederick "Pete" Samuel Holt, 80, of Madison, Alabama passed away February 22, 2022 after an extended illness with family by his side. He was the husband of the late Joanne Holt, whom he was married to for 42 years.
Pete was born in Clinton, Iowa on July 31st, 1941 to the late Edward John Holt and Margaret Adeline Colschen. He lived in Clinton for the majority of his life and attended Clinton High School. He proudly served in the United States Army from 1963-1965, as a welder, during the Vietnam War. After Pete returned from Vietnam, he began his career with Chicago Northwestern/Union Pacific Railroad where he worked as a Carman Welder for Chicago Northwestern/Union Pacific Railroad for 42 years.
He was a member of the American Legion and VFW in Madison, AL. During his free time he enjoyed fishing, hunting, drawing, and painting.
Pete is survived by three sons Daniel Holt of Clinton, IA, Vernon Holt of Fulton, MO; Joseph Holt of Madison, AL, and four daughters, Teresa Alexander of Madison, AL, Kimberly Bradford of DeSoto, MO, Tammy Herrera of Okinawa, Japan, Margaret McNeal of Lebanon, TN, and one sister, Edwina Jean Holt Spencer of Clinton, IA, 12 grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, parents, several brothers, one sister, and a grandson.
The family will hold a private service and request that in lieu of flowers, donations should be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
