Eric McPherson Toline

Eric McPherson Toline, 73, of Madison, Alabama, died January 25, 2022, at home.

He was born on August 13, 1948, to Commander F.R. “Doc” and Edith McPherson Toline in Bethesda, Maryland. He was a self described “Navy brat” growing up with his four siblings. His family moved all over the country, but he always considered Tennessee home. He developed a close bond and affection for his family as well as the ability to make conversation with anyone he ever met. He kept these traits throughout his life.

Eric attended Tennessee Technological University for his bachelor degree in engineering science and University of Tennessee for his masters of business administration. He was a Tennessee fan and was overjoyed in 1998 when they won the national championship and remained a loyal fan despite the last almost 20 years of disappointment. 

He married the love of his life, Judy Crowe on September 20, 1975 and was a dedicated father to their three children, Amanda, Alicia and Cole.

He was an avid reader. He had an unquenchable thirst for knowledge and never quit learning about new topics. 

His family was always involved in their local church and he was baptized at Collegeside Church of Christ in Cookeville, TN. A place that held so many of his fondest memories. 

He most of all loved his family and loved to talk about the accomplishments of his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Eric is survived by his wife Judy, his children Amanda Dycus (David) of Madison, AL, Alicia Hale (Joshua) of Birmingham, AL and Dr. Cole Toline (Sheena) of Nashville, TN, grandchildren Carson, Ethan and Aidan Dycus, Caroline, Clark and Clara Hale, Bodhi Toline, siblings Lillian Hickman (Mike) and Gail Miller.

He was preceded in death by his parents Doc and Edith Toline and his brothers Frank and Robert.

A private family ceremony will be held at his church, Madison Church of Christ on Saturday, January 29, 2022.
