Verna Kaye Preston was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to everyone she met. She passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on December 21, 2021 at the age of 70.
Kaye was born to Vernon Stephens and Dorothy (Porter) Webb on August 27, 1951. After graduating from Southwest High school in 1969, she married her high school sweetheart, Phillip Preston on May 31, 1969. They were married for 52 glorious years. She was a devoted wife and loving mother who always put the needs of her family before her own. She is survived by her mother Dorothy Webb, husband, Phillip Preston, son, Wade Preston, and wife, Jumana, and one granddaughter, Amelia Grace Preston.
Kaye served the US Government for 23 years in various roles but completed her service as the Senior Data Management Analyst at Fox Army Hospital. In retirement she enjoyed playing tennis and loved all the ladies at the Huntsville Women’s Tennis Association. Her light and love touched all those she met, she never met a stranger, and was always there to lend hand and a smile to all those in need.
