Gene was born in Buffalo, NY on February 5, 1943, to Edward and Ann Wrobel. Along with older brother Richard and sister Dolores, Gene enjoyed growing up in western New York alongside his twin brother, Gerald. Gene worked and studied hard in high school, and at the age of 17, he enlisted in the United State Air Force in 1960. While in the Air Force and stationed in Columbus, Mississippi, Gene was set up on a blind date with a nursing student from Alabama. Gene and Mary moved to Birmingham, AL in the early 1970s where Gene grew his financial expertise and success with multiple organizations. In the early 1980s, Gene accepted an international finance director role in The Netherlands working for Intergraph Corporation. After 5 years in Europe, Gene and Mary moved back to Huntsville, and Gene continued working for Intergraph in various financial leadership roles until his retirement as Vice President and Treasurer in 2005. Upon retirement, Gene enjoyed spending time with family, especially his grandchildren, as well as helping others through various volunteer organizations. Gene was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, sister, and infant daughter Elizabeth Lee. He is survived by his wife Mary Lee Wrobel; children Mary Jeanne Wrobel Dorset and Christopher John Wrobel; and grandchildren Jackson Christopher Wrobel and Parker Elizabeth Wrobel.
