Harold Eugene Wright, born September 29, 1939, passed away after a brief illness November 11, 2021. Harold was born on the family farm in Caledonia, MS, to Leo C. and Nannie Lou Wright, who preceded him in death. After graduating from Caledonia, MS High School, Harold pursued and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Mississippi State University. Upon graduation he was commissioned Second Lieutenant in the United States Army. He was deployed to Berlin in 1962. He spent 30 years in the active service of the Army and the Army Reserves. He retired from the Army Reserves as a Colonel He was Honorably Discharged from active duty in 1963, then moving to Huntsville Alabama to begin a life long career with the Army Missile Command at Redstone Arsenal. He retired from the Missile Command in 2001. After retirement Harold split his time between the Florida Gulf Coast, traveling the world, and teaching computer skills at Huntsville’s Senior Center. His passion for teaching people was seen on a daily basis. He continued his love of engineering by always being available to help someone repair an item or solve a complex computer issue. His love of all things Mississippi State continued through his entire lifetime. His love of family was evident as he played a large role in their lives. Harold is survived by his wife, Barbara, his son Harold E. Wright, Jr., his daughter-in-law Kellie Wright, and his two grandchildren, Allison and Peyton Wright. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 A.M. Monday, November 15 at Legacy Chapel Funeral Home in Madison, AL, followed by a service also at Legacy Chapel Funeral Home at 11:00 A.M. Burial will follow at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery in Huntsville, AL.
