Michael Shoffner, resident of Madison, AL and Knoxville, TN died unexpectedly on July 21, 2021, at the age of 30.
Michael was born April 11, 1991, in Knoxville, TN. He graduated from Sparkman High School, in Madison, AL, and attended the University of North Alabama, Florence, AL.
Michael was a devoted son and brother; and highly regarded by all who knew him. From the time he picked up a stuffed miniature basketball as a toddler, basketball continued to be his greatest passion. He was an avid fan of all University of Tennessee sports (Go Vols!), Kobe Bryant, and the Los Angeles Lakers. He loved all sports, going to the beach, traveling, and he was a fierce competitor at ping pong at family events.
Though his life was far too brief, memories of Michael will live on in all of us privileged to know him and love him. Unbeknownst to him, he touched many lives in his short journey on Earth. He will most certainly do so in Heaven. He was fiercely loyal to his family and friends. His many friends considered him a lifelong friend. He would have given you the shirt off his back and his last bite of food without question. His friends meant everything to him.
Michael is survived by his mother, Kimberly Young, stepfather, Richard Young, father, Michael D. Shoffner, brother, Austin Eugene Shoffner, grandfather, Emerson E. Martin, Jr., grandmother, Glenda Shoffner, his aunts: Kim McKinney and Shirley Katz, and cousins, Connor Katz, William Barnes, Hillary Little, Phil Walters, and his beloved feline, Smokey.
