Herman Lee Mitchell, 59, of Madison, AL. passed away July 6, 2021.
Herman Lee was born on December 3, 1961, in Eustis, FL. to Savannah and David Mitchell, Sr. He was preceded in death by two older sisters and two older brothers, the late Minnie Pettigrew of Umatilla, Patricia Butler, Benny Mitchell, and Ivory Mitchell. He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Doris Cecelia Mitchell; brothers, David Mitchell, Jr. (Gloria) and Willie Louis (Brenda); sisters, Linda Ray Mitchell, Laretta Figgs (Robert) and Lillie Mae Howell (Ernest); children, Harrie James Edwards, Sherita Michelle Little-Maple (Jasper), Shawndrell Latrice Mitchell, Natoya Danese Mitchell, Lauren Chanel Mitchell, 9 grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Herman Lee graduated Umatilla High School in 1979 (Go Bulldogs). While in the Military he began pursuing a degree at Central Texas College and he completed his bachelor’s degree at Faulkner University. He entered basic training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. During his time in the Army, Herman was stationed in Hinesville, Georgia; Yuba City, California; Fort Hood, Texas and in Germany, where he retired after 22 years of service.
During his tour of Germany, he joined the Church of God. He became the Pastor of All Nations Church of God and New Life Christian Center, where he served both locations for 13 years. Herman was ordained Bishop on March 1, 2004. Bishop Mitchell served on the Ministry of the Military European Board as well as the Chapel Boards in Hohenfels, Germany.
Herman Lee enjoyed spending time with his family, playing golf, trash talking, eating, viewing sports, and traveling. Bishop thrived around people and loved to bless them. Most importantly, he loved God with all his heart, soul, and strength.
He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend, and mentor. He will be greatly missed.
