Sheila Marie Fierro, aged 57, passed away Tuesday, April 21, 2021. A resident of Madison, Alabama, since July 1997, she was born in Evanston, Illinois, and moved to Broadview Heights, Ohio, where she graduated from Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School in 1981. She completed a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts degree in Vocational Home Economics from the University of Akron in 1985. At Akron, she began a life-long love affair after meeting her husband in the marching band.
Sheila began her career as a teacher near Dayton, Ohio. She started a family, moved briefly back to northern Ohio, and eventually settled in Madison, Alabama, and the exceptional community at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. To keep tabs on her children, she worked for many years as the cafeteria manager at St. John’s School and St. John Paul II Catholic High School as well as MCDC on Redstone Arsenal. A devout Roman Catholic, she was an active parishioner at Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church in Madison.
Sheila loved spending time sewing, reading, cooking, and traveling the world – especially with her husband and family. She was quick to serve others in any way she could and left a mark wherever she went. At the end of the day, Sheila, above all things, cherished the time she spent with her husband, three children, their spouses, and her extended family.
Sheila was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Ellen Buckley, and uncle, James Corcoran. She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Mario Fierro, along with their three children - Emma Lockard and husband Andy of Roeland Park, Kansas; Ryan Fierro and wife Rachel of Birmingham; and Evan Fierro and wife Kourtlynn of Madison.
Visitation will be 4:00 to 5:00 pm on Monday, April 26, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church followed by a funeral Mass beginning at 5:00 pm.
