Diana Cagle Livingston

April 12, 1943 — March 25, 2021

Diana Lois Cagle Livingston, age 76, of Harvest, Alabama went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday 25 March 2021 from Madison Hospital. Her husband, daughter, and son-in-law were at her side. Diana was born in Knoxville, Tennessee on 12 April 1943 to the late Boyce Tilden Cagle and Ruth Lenore Chandler Cagle. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her younger daughter, Catherine A. Livingston, and her sister, Anna Ruth Cagle.

Diana was a wonderful, generous woman who loved people. Diana and her beloved husband, Hall, were role models for a successful marriage marked by patience, humor, fun, and devotion. Diana Livingston was a beloved mother of her own children, son-in-law, and grandchildren, but she was also the beloved Nana of several generations of children who came into her life.  Many people much younger than her would say, “she’s one of the closest friends I have ever had.”   She built a large ‘family of choice’, being gracious and kind to outsiders.

Diana was also a strong Christian. She was both a Mary and a Martha. Her generosity melded with her love of cooking to make her a wonderful hostess.  Her faith was always rooted in the middle of real life and fed by prayer.  The love of ‘family’ and Christ overlapped as Diana led several small groups for church.  She always had a positive spirit and greeted everyone at church with a smile.

Diana persevered through many losses (especially the loss of her daughter Catherine and near loss of Sharon in a serious car crash) and health trials (including ovarian cancer, diabetes, several knee replacements, and ensuing infections) but never gave up on God or life.  Diana will be remembered for her enormous heart.  Her loss is immeasurable and her legacy to those who loved her will be eternal.

Due to the pandemic, Diana Livingston will be remembered at a private service for family.  Diana is to be buried next to her daughter and grandson at Mount Comfort Cemetery in Alexandria, VA.  There will be no graveside ceremony.  If you wish to make a donation in her honor, we are suggesting the American Cancer Society, as Diana was an ovarian cancer survivor.

Diana and her family are in the care of Legacy Chapel in Madison, AL. 256-325-5011.
