Alma M. Giunta passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 10, 2021 with her son and daughter-in-law by her side.
Alma was born on January 25, 1936 in Baltimore, Maryland to Francis and Alma McDermott. On November 7, 1954 she married the love of her life Joseph Giunta. They had 3 children, Stephen, Theresa, and Joseph. She had 8 grandchildren, their spouses and 9 great grandchildren.
Alma worked for the Florida school system as a baker in the cafeteria. She loved her job and her coworkers but she always said it wasn’t work, it was fun. Alma loved to spend time with her family and friends but it was her grandkids and great grandkids that brought her the most joy. They were the light of her life. She could often be found making lunches and taking the gang to the beach or a local park to spend the day or even host a tea party. She was known for her family dinners which included spaghetti and meatballs, blue claw crab feasts and an occasional fish fry. She enjoyed playing cards with her girlfriends; she was an avid reader enjoying biographies and loved to fish with her husband.
Alma is preceded in death by her parents, brother, husband and daughter.
A small family only gathering will be held on February 14, 2021.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Leukemia and lymphoma society, the charity of her choice.
In the near future Alma will be laid to rest with her husband at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery-Crownsville in Crownsville, Maryland.
