Connie Sue Sunstrom, 71, of Madison, AL passed away peacefully January 18, 2021 at Madison Hospital from COVID-19 complications. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend, and will be missed by so many.
Connie was born November 22, 1949 in Junction City, Kansas to Edwin and Maxine (Gfeller) Adams. She married her husband Barry on August 12, 1972, and they moved to Milford, Kansas where they lived and raised their two children, Kari and Adam.
Connie worked on Ft. Riley, Kansas handling government travel and retiring as the manager of the Carlson Wagonlit Travel office in 2013. After retirement, Connie and Barry moved to Madison, AL to be near Adam and his family.
Connie was a devout Christian who demonstrated her faith through service to others, and she served her church and community through volunteering. Connie loved to travel especially with her friends and family. Some special memories include eating fresh pineapple in Hawaii, riding the skytram across the rainforests of Costa Rica, cruising the Alaskan coastline, and seeing the beautiful colors of fall leaves and snow capped mountains.
Connie’s family was truly the light of her life. Her devotion was felt through comforting love and hugs, her smile, and her warm meals and cookies. It was rare that she ever missed a school or athletic event or recital for her children and grandchildren. She was the kindest, most loving and selfless person you could ever meet. Her family was her world and she will be missed dearly.
We will miss you so very much, Grammie.
