Virginia Belle Eckfeld

October 6, 1934 — November 30, 2020

Virginia “Jen” Belle (Crawford) Eckfeld, 86, of Madison, Alabama, formerly of Bossier City, Louisiana, passed away peacefully in her sleep on November 30, 2020, at Regency Retirement Village in Huntsville. Born October 6, 1934 in Coushatta, Louisiana, she is predeceased by her parents Frank and Lela Crawford of Dubberly, Louisiana and her late husband of 55 years, Edward “Ed” Eckfeld.  

Jen grew up in Red River Parish Louisiana and attended Dubberly High school where she was an avid basketball athlete. She graduated from Meadows-Draughn business college in Shreveport, Louisiana and was employed at United Gas Corporation, Louisiana and Standard Oil Company, Ohio.  She married Ed in 1957 and raised two children before working in accounting at Noland Company. She was a dedicated sports fan and attended many football and basketball games. She was a great cook and enjoyed preparing meals, especially over the holidays. She was active in the community as a member of the Junior Service League, Red Cross, PTA, Medical Center Volunteers and Republican Women’s club.  She was a Christian, dedicating her life to Christ when she was 16, and a member of Providence Baptist Church, in Huntsville.    

She is survived by her son Gregory Eckfeld and his wife Jill, daughter Susan and her husband Jimmie; grandchildren, Emily Taylor, Erika Eckfeld, Morgan Carter, Hayden Taylor and Ryan Criswell; great grandchildren Ellis and Rose.  In addition, she is survived by her sisters Mercille Jach, Ann Joyner, Patsy Metz and a host of nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at Legacy Chapel Funeral Home on Friday, December 4th from 1:00 – 2:00 with a graveside service held from at 2:30 at Faith Memorial Park.
