Marjorie “Peggy” McBride Mendelsohn-Brown, age 95, passed peacefully at her Madison, AL home on October 9,2020, after a long illness. Mrs. Brown was a longtime resident of Madison County, AL, and was retired from the University of Alabama in Huntsville in 1994. Originally from Corunna Michigan, Mrs. Brown was a member of Corunna High School Class of 1942, where she was a majorette and Homecoming Queen.
In 1988, Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Robert Mendelsohn and in 2014, she was preceded in death by her husband of 13 years, Allan Brown. She is survived by her three daughters: Trudy Jo Mendelsohn Moore-Francis; Barbara Jean (Bobbie) Mendelsohn Jersey; and Sandra Mendelsohn McRae; as well as by three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
During her life, she made a positive impact on many lives. She was an original member establishing St. Stephens Episcopal Church, Huntsville, AL and Sunday School teacher there. Later she became a member of the Ascension Lutheran Church in Huntsville and St. John’s Catholic Church in Madison. When she became more home bound, Harvest Pointe Methodist Church, Madison, AL came to her at Madison Village and will provide her service. The family will receive friends at Legacy Chapel on Hughes Road, in Madison Alabama, Monday, October 12, 2020 starting at 1:00 with the funeral at 1:30. Interment will be at Maple Hill Cemetery in Huntsville, AL.
In lieu of flowers, Mrs. Brown wished for donations to be directed to The Harris Home for Children at 1210 Church St NW, Huntsville, AL 35801.
