John Robert Lawter (Bob), 80, of Madison, AL. passed away September 18, 2020.
Bob was born October 13, 1939 in Cooke County of Hartford, Tennessee to Homer and Beatrice Lawter.
When Bob was a little boy, his grandmother bought him a steel-guitar and provided music lessons. He was a member of the South Carolina All-State Senior Band and got a full musical scholarship to the University of South Carolina. Bob was the leading tenor in quartet, THE BELL-AIRS. Just about everyone who knew him enjoyed his praise and worship songs. Bob was commissioned in the U.S. Army and served for 5 ½ years, then transferred to the Army reserves. Bob retired from the Department of Army as a Civilian for the U.S. Army installation Management (IMCOM) after 37 years of service.
Bob was a member of the Young Nak Presbyterian Church. He loved the Lord and attended church regularly. Through his entire life he stayed faithful. There was never a question about where he would spend eternity.
Bob is survived by his wife, Young; son, Edward (Ashley); J.J. (Hannah); Wayne (Kim); and nine grandchildren.
A visitation will be held Tuesday September 22, 2020 at Legacy Chapel funeral Home from 12-2 PM, Funeral Service at 2 PM and Interment will follow at Huntsville Memory Gardens.
