Jean Esther Duncan

Duncan, Jean Esther October 19, 1925 — September 6, 2020

Beloved wife of Henry "Hank"' Duncan, Mother of Gary Duncan, Mary Duncan, Michael Duncan and wife Anita; grandmother of Julie Slade and husband Steve, great-grandchildren Jordan Slade and Katelynn Slade; Grandson Steven Duncan and his family. Jeanie is also survived by her youngest brother Wayne Hitt. Jeanie passed away after a brief illness surrounded by the love of her family. She was born and grew up in Riverside, CA in a family of 12 children, and had to overcome a very difficult childhood. Jeanie was warm and loving with a quick sense of humor, and always saw the best in people. In 1941, she met and married Hank. They lived in Southern California for the majority of their lives. Hank passed away in 2010. In 2013, Jeanie, Gary, and Mary moved to Madison, Alabama where Jeanie enjoyed the beauty of her new surroundings, including the vast array of beautiful birds that were just outside her window. For the twenty years prior to moving to Northern Alabama, Jeanie, Hank, Mary, and Gary shared a home in Huntington Beach, CA. There Jean made close friendships with many neighbors who became like family.
Jeanie and Hank loved camping, fishing, and traveling throughout the U.S., but their greatest joy was all the good times spent with family and friends. Among her fondest memories were vacations with Julie and Slade on their beautiful horse farm in Kansas, along with the grandchildren, and was also able to visit with her son Mike and his wife Anita.
She also loved the amazing trips with Gary and Hank to Alaska, Hawaii, Canada, and New Zealand, and a special trip she shared with Hank to the Green Horn Dude ranch in Nevada. They had the time of their lives riding horses, special round up meals, and having lots of fun with the other guests
Jeanie's sweet nature and kind spirituality will forever be with her family and friends.
Future services will be held at Riverside National Veterans Cemetery.
