Martha Lodge Newlon, at the age of 69, passed-away on Saturday, February 1, 2020 just before noon. This magnificent woman was born on August 8th, 1950 in Rochester, New York. She grew up as a Tom-Boy interested in climbing trees, playing Tarzan, running electric trains, swimming in high school meets, and skiing the slopes in Aspen, Colorado.
She attended Washington State University as an archaeology major where she met her future husband Ronald Oliver Newlon. They were married on August 30, 1969 and took up residence in Los Angeles, California where Ron worked for Hughes Aircraft Company and she took nursing courses at LA City College. Marti became a full-time mother for Kenneth Edward Newlon and Janice Ann Newlon.
Marti is the oldest of five children of Dr. James P. Lodge and Nancy Lodge that include Eric, Judith, Susan, and Betsy. She was very proud of seven grand-children. Three of her favorite hobbies included cowboy action shooting, scuba diving, and running one-eighth scale steam locomotives. Ron and Marti were inseparable as each other's best friend. She was a North Alabama Master Gardener who enjoyed working with disabled adults helping them cope with their illness by focusing their effort on growing plants. She will be remembered as a fabulous wife, marvelous mother, and a person with a warm disposition.
