On Friday, January 10, 2020, Elenita Marie (Royer) Stapp, 82, of Madison, Alabama, met her precious Lord and Savior, freeing herself from this world and dementia. We know she was greeted in heaven with the resounding words, “well done, my good and faithful servant”. Her life was a testament of her deep abiding trust in Jesus Christ. She ran the good race. She finished the course. She never wavered in her faith.
Elenita, better known as Grammie to most, leaves this world with a legacy of servitude to Jesus. Beneath her beautiful smile and quiet reserved manner, was a huge tender heart that loved serving others through baking, thoughtful notes, and prayers. She loved her CrossPointe Church home and family. She served in her Sunday School class and the AWANA Children’s program.
Prior to retiring to Madison, Elenita and her late husband, John Calvin Stapp, Jr., served the community of Bothel, Washington, through their Christian bookstore, The Sparrow. Owning a Christian bookstore, where they could share the love of Christ to others, was their life long dream. When not working in the store, Elenita passionately loved hiking the Cascade and Olympic Mountains with John.
Grammie fiercely loved her children and grandchildren. She is survived by daughters, Jody Smith (Stuart), Jana Manning (Sloan), Julie Stapp; grandchildren Julie Smith, Joshua Manning (Claire), Jonathan Manning (Muriel), Noah Stapp, Ethan Shelton, Hannah-Grace Rooks, Will Stapp (Naomi), Phil Stapp, Jr. (Tamara); and great-granddaughter Amelia Stapp.
Elenita is rejoicing in heaven as she is reunited with her beloved husband, John, son, John Phillip Stapp, parents Marie and Phil Royer, and brothers, Rob and Mickey Royer.
