Charles Donald Arnett, DDS, 84, of Harvest, AL, passed away Tuesday, January 7, 2020.
He is preceded in death by his parents; Clyde and Toelette Arnett, and his brother Jerry. Survivors include his loving wife, Janet; his two daughters, Karen Bigger and Paula Shea, and his niece, Reda Davis; Janet’s daughters, Beth Campbell, Linda Immordino and Debra Colegrove; their eight grandchildren and their 10 great-grandchildren.
Dr. Arnett was born on February 26, 1935, in Limestone County, Alabama. Don served his country as a corporal in the US Army serving as a Medic. He graduated from Loma Linda University School of Dentistry in Loma Linda, California, with a degree as a Doctor of Dental Surgery. He moved to Huntsville, AL, and was a practicing dentist for over 46 years. Don married Janet on August 3, 1986. They served as missionaries for 12 years in Zimbabwe, Africa, and Trinidad & Tobago. Upon return from missionary service, Dr. Arnett continued to practice dentistry for several more years before retiring in his hometown of Harvest.
Dr. Arnett was an active elder and deacon, as well as a missionary in the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Don and his wife, Janet, authored a book, “God Will Work It Out.” He enjoyed raising and showing horses and was an avid collector of arrowheads. He also enjoyed gardening and birdwatching.
A memorial service will be held at the Athens Seventh-day Adventist Church, 1207 E. Pryor St., Athens, on Saturday, January 11, 2020 at 2:00 pm.
