Patricia Ann Fultz Hughes, was born to Blanche Marie Smith and Millard Fillmore Fultz, Jr. on January 20, 1940 on the island of Galveston, Texas. She was known by “Pat” or “Patti” from parents, siblings, and friends. The name “Patsy” was given to her by her beloved husband, David, when they first met at the tender age of 12.
Patsy attended and graduated from Ball High School in Galveston, Texas and graduated college from West Texas State University in Canyon, Texas with a degree in elementary education.
David and Patsy married in August of 1960 in Galveston, Texas and set up home in Navasota, Texas where she taught school while David completes his veterinary education at Texas A&M University.
Patsy and David moved many places throughout their lives together, beginning in College Station, TX, Pampa, TX, Slaton, TX, Knoxville, TN, Memphis, TN, Phoenix, AZ, Sioux City, IA, Lisle, IL, Keller, TX, Marshall, TX, Easley, SC, Grant, AL, Albertville, AL, and finally settling in Madison, AL, at Merrill Gardens Assisted Living. She and David collected many, many friends along their way.
Patsy was a life-long member of the Presbyterian Church and attended The Table services every chance she could, held at Merrill Gardens in Madison, AL.
Patsy was a woman of many talents. She began “the dance” at the young age of three with a desire to become a ballerina and “die at curtain call.” She had a flare for the dramatic and her personality reflected such. She enjoyed entertaining and she raised her children and grandchildren to be prepared with manners fit for the imminent invitation to dine with the Queen.
She was benevolent in every way, always thinking of others and took care of her friends and family in a fiercely devoted way. Her outlook on life and her wit created fun and endearing memories for her family. Her absence creates a tremendous void.
