Eleanor (Ellie) T. Dunlap, 81 years of age, passed away peacefully at her home in Madison, AL. on November 12, 2019 after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s.
Eleanor was born on December 5, 1937 in Panama City, Republic of Panama.
She married Fred L. Dunlap from Illinois in May of 1961.
Eleanor is survived by her husband, Fred; sons, Scott (Mary Beth) Dunlap and Jon Dunlap both from Madison, AL.; sister, Vicky Small; grandchildren, Brian (Susanna) Dunlap of Huntsville, AL.; Keith Dunlap of Atlanta, Ga.; Kelly Dunlap of Huntsville, AL.
During the time Eleanor lived in the Panama Canal area, she was an active member of the visual arts community where she painted in many forms of media to include watercolor, oil, and acrylic paintings. She also studied painting at Canal Zone College along with many renowned artists in the area. Eleanor was a member of the National League of American Pen Woman. She retired from Sears, Roebuck and Company in Tampa, FL. after 21 years. After retirement, she relocated to Madison, Alabama where she continued to paint and was a regular at the Madison Senior Center’s painting classes. Above all else, Eleanor loved her visits with her grandchildren and seeing them grow up.
A private memorial service will be held with the family. The family of Eleanor wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the Encompass Hospice staff for their caring service.
