Betty E. Whatman returned to her heavenly home on Sunday, June 16, 2019. She was born Beulah Elizabeth Boggs to Patrick and Leona Boggs on January 30, 1923, in Powells Valley, VA. She was recruited to work for the Federal Government and moved to Washington, D.C. as a young woman.
Betty was the widow of Arthur James Whatman. She retired from the Department of Defense and was proud to say she’d been retired twice as long as she worked! Betty loved playing cards and rarely lost. She also loved people, especially her family.
Betty spent much of her adult life living in Alexandria and Stafford County, Virginia. After her retirement, she resided in Lakeland, Florida, until she joined her daughter's household in Madison, Alabama.
Her children have many memories to cherish. Her children are Larry Whatman (Bobbi), Ruthie Ann Pospicil (Gene), Kenneth Louis Holmberg, and Sharon Elizabeth Chidsey (Steve) Betty’s grandchildren are Steven Anderson, Jennifer Yarbrough (Patrick), Mark Holmberg, Kristen Holmberg, Wesley Whatman (Jayme), Stephanie Whatman, Lindsay Johnson (DJ)and Joshua Chidsey. Her great-grandchildren are D.J. Anderson, Dalton Anderson, Devon Anderson, Taylor Anderson, Caroline Anderson, Harrison Anderson, Emma Anderson, Hayleigh Lutrick, Olivia Yarbrough, Persephone Yarbrough, and Ethan Johnson. She will be greatly missed by all.
