John Roland Warren, 83, of Madison, AL, passed away on June 11, 2019, surrounded by his family and friends.
John was born in Goffstown, New Hampshire, to Roland Joffre Beaupre and Viola Gertrude (Lavigne). He entered into the U.S. Army in 1955 and served for twenty years, ending his tenure in the army as a Chief Warrant Officer. He was the recipient of the Bronze Star. Upon his retirement from the army at the Redstone Arsenal, he moved his family back to New Hampshire for civilian life. He obtained a bachelor’s degree from Nathaniel Hawthorne College with a major in history. John then returned to the U.S. Army to begin his next professional career in civil service. He graduated in 1981 from the U.S. Army Defense Ammunition Center and School located in Savanna, IL. He served as a Quality Assurance Specialist assigned to Hawthorne Army Depot, the Army Garrison at Hohenfels (Germany), Fort Hood and he returned to Redstone Arsenal where he retired in 1998.
John is survived by his wife of 61 years, Maria Antonie (Gutsmiedl), of Bad Tolz, Germany. His daughters Viola Crooker and Doris predeceased his passing as well as his brother, George, and step-sister, Beverly Dumas. He is survived by his children: son John and daughter-in-law Susan of Tewksbury, MA; daughter Maria Burton of Gloversville, NY; and daughter Jennifer Deken and son-in-law Kevin of Madison, AL. He is also survived by his sister Judi Clough of Hillsboro, NH, and brother Ted Bissonnette. He has twelve grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
The visitation will be Saturday, June 15, 2019 from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. with a memorial service to follow at 12:00 p.m. at the Legacy Chapel Funeral Home.
