Gail Farner Smitherman

Gail Farner Smitherman peacefully passed away on April 23, at 62 years of age. Gail was born in Marietta Georgia on February 22, 1957 to Mildred Davis Farner and Johnny Boyd Farner. They soon moved to Huntsville Alabama where she grew up with her sister, Rhonda. She received a certification to work as a dental hygienist from Calhoun Community College and a Bachelors in Business Administration from Athens State College. 

Gail was preceded in death by her parents, Mildred Davis Farner and Johnny Boyd Farner who she has now been reunited with in Heaven. Gail is survived by her daughter, Rachel Smitherman; sister, Rhonda Farner Bolic; and many of her, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephew, cousins, and dearest friends who loved her like a sister. 

Gail was an active member at Mount Zion Baptist here in Huntsville for many years and will be laid to rest next to her parents in the church’s cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Family requests memorials may be sent to the Mount Zion Baptist Cemetery fund or to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offerings for International Missions. To donate, please visit imb.org.
