Devoted Husband, Father, Brother, and “Poppy”

 

Timothy Ray Kay, age 58, passed away Thursday, February 7, 2019 at Huntsville Hospital with his family close by his side.

 

Tim was born July 20, 1960 in Iuka, Mississippi to mother, Shirley Hughes, and father, Raner Kay. 

 

In 1986, Tim graduated from Mississippi State University with a B.S. in Civil Engineering and was also a graduate of Florida Institute of Technology where he earned a M.S. in Acquisition & Contract Management. Tim had 36 years of engineering, manufacturing, and quality experience, working in both the private sector and the government sector. His experience took him through great companies and programs such as TVA at Brown's Ferry Nuclear Plant, AMRDEC, AMCOM, and JAMS. Tim's hard work, attention to detail, and servant leadership were influential and highly regarded in each position he stepped into. 

 

Tim was a leader in his personal life as well as his professional life. To some he was a soccer coach, to others a Sunday school teacher, and yet to others a father-figure, advisor, or comforting friend depending on what the need was. 

 

Tim is survived by his dear wife Judy Kay, his two sweet daughters Jessica and Brooke and their respective husbands Tom Radcliffe and Tucker Hunter, his grandson Easton, and his siblings Franklin “Keith” Rhodes, Michael Kay, and Rebecca Hall.

 

Tim was a man who deeply touched the lives around him with the unconditional love of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Tim made it his mission in life to make you feel individually important and validated. He is loved immensely by those who knew him and is an irreplaceable gift from God. Tim was deeply loved and will be severely missed.

 

Visitation and Funeral Services will be held at Mount Zion Baptist Church in Huntsville, AL on Monday, February 11, 2019 from 1-3:00 pm with the funeral to follow. In lieu of flowers, we request donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, American Heart Association, or Lottie Moon in memory of Timothy Kay.
