On Tuesday, January 22, 2019, Kimberly Faye Henshey, loving wife, and mother of two children, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, at age 56.
Kimberly was born on April 23, 1962 in Dayton, OH, to Gene and Joyce (Humes) Tahon. She received her Associates degree from Altoona School of Commerce in May of 1985. On November 16, 1985, she married Jonathan Hunter Henshey. They raised two children; their son, Nathan, and their daughter, Ashton.
Kimberly had a passion for the Lord Jesus and she lived her life in His service, every day. She also loved quilting, and she combined the two passions to create extraordinary “prayer quilts”. She would choose a quilt pattern to make and identify someone to give that quilt to. She would then continually pray for that person as she sewed the quilt together and then also during the countless hours it took her to lovingly hand stitch the intricate designs on the quilt’s surface. The end result was a “prayer quilt” that literally contained her blood, sweat, and tears, along with the hours and hours of prayer for that person. She was also known for her home decorating skills, joyful and grateful disposition, and her kind and compassionate spirit. But most of all, she was known for her love and dedication to the Lord and her family.
Kimberly is survived by her husband Jonathan, her two children, Nathan and Ashton, her grandsons, Ethan and Carter, her father and mother, Gene and Joyce, her two sisters, Lee Etta and Sandy, and several cousins, nieces, and a nephew. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 26th, 2019 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church on Mt. Zion Road, Madison, AL. Visitation will be from 9:00am – 11:00am and the service will begin immediately following the visitation. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Kimberly’s name to the Griffith Family Foundation or Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.
