William Joseph McGuire

William “Bill” McGuire, 71, left this world after battling a second round of cancer. Predeceased by his parents Lillian (Leary) McGuire and Paul McGuire and beloved spouse, Kristine Damitz McGuire. Surviving children Mindy Taylor (Doug), Michelle Bahtic (Nedin), Megan Edrington (Aaron), and Matthew McGuire (Christy). Brother Peter McGuire (Nancy), sister Patricia Craig, sister-in-law Kathleen Sir Louis (David), 11 grandchildren Olivia, Audrey, Kira, Meara, Will, Lila, Adaline, Ainsley, Lily Ann, MacKenna, Eva, and his friend and companion, Bear. Bill grew up in Akron, Ohio, and attended St. Paul’s Elementary School, Archbishop Hoban High School, and the University of Akron. One of Bill’s greatest joys in life was being married to his wife of 47 years, Kris McGuire. They enjoyed traveling together, going for walks in the local nature preserve, and frequenting the best fish joints in town. He enjoyed sports, especially golf, tennis, and coaching youth soccer. Bill recently moved to Alabama to be near his son, Matt, and his family where he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, who always enjoyed listening to him read stories. A private memorial will be held at a later date.
