Bobby Elgin Muir, 81, of Huntsville, Al. passed away August 3, 2018.
Bobby (Bob) Elgin Muir was a devoted child of God and the rock of his family. He loved a vacation, a reunion or even a regular Thursday night that brought his family together.
Bob was born in Leeds, AL on October 16, 1936 to Norman and Bessie Muir. The youngest of 4 children, his siblings would say that he was the most spoiled, and his mischievous personality caused trouble for everyone. In 1958 Bob met his wife, Rachel Garmany Muir in Oneonta, AL. It was a short courtship because they were quickly inseparable, and were together over 60 years. They were married on February 8th, 1959, on a very rainy day.
During his life, Bob would serve as a Sunday school teacher, a youth group leader , in civic organizations and for 25 years as a volunteer fireman. He loved to serve others in any way that he could.
One of Bob's great joys was being able to travel with his wife, children, and grandchildren. Bob was proud that he and Rachel were able to visit all 50 states as well as Canada, Mexico, Caribbean ports, and the Panama Canal. When he wasn't traveling, he loved to sit at his computer and look at pictures and reminisce of all the adventures he had taken with his family.
Bob looked forward to family reunions every year. He loved to make others laugh and would spread his joy to everyone he talked to. He was quick-witted and could make a joke about anything, even if it was at his own expense.
He is survived, loved , and missed by his wife, Rachel Muir; his daughter, Melissa Taylor, his sons, Robert Muir and John (Vicky) Muir; his grandchildren, Jacob Muir, Emily Muir, Will (Nicole) Taylor, Grant Taylor, Colby Muir, Rachel Muir, Codie (Lauren) Wallace, and Candace (Seth) Cameron; his great-grandchildren, Hayden Taylor, Juliette Taylor, and Cohen Cameron; as well as his sister, Elizabeth Collins, many nieces, nephews, and other relatives including his in-laws who he considered siblings.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Ed Muir, and sister , Jeannene Lee.
