Thomas, "Tom", L. Moore, 82, passed peacefully into the arms of his waiting Savior on June 14th; he was at home lovingly surrounded by family.
Born March 20, 1936, in Montgomery, AL, he was the 8th of 9 children. His innate talent with electronics and automotives was the pathway to a career and a life-long passion. Tom left home in 1953 and, under the tutelage of his brother, Bill, honed his skills as an electronics repairman. In Jul 1954, he began his career as a Radar Maintenance Technician with the Georgia Air National Guard. In 1960 he moved to Oklahoma as an electronics technician with the Federal Aviation Agency, In 1964, Tom transferred, under special order because of his unique skills, as a key federal employee to Huntsville, AL. He spent the remainder of his highly successful and decorated 42 year government career in Huntsville with the Army's Roland Missile Project Office, Missile Command, and Aviation and Missile Command as both an electrical and a general engineer.
Tom "retired" in 1996 though he never really stopped working. He loved to tinker and always had some sort of project underway at home or helping neighbors with handyman jobs. He and his wife were members of University Baptist Church in Huntsville and were active in the programs for seniors. He enjoyed a hearty laugh, time with his family, and a good steak on the grill.
Tom is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Billie; his children: Joe Moore, Terri Moore Garza, Kevin Moore, Dr. Randy Moore (Cassy), Cheryl Moore Chandler, Darrell Moore (Sandra), and Jonathan Moore; siblings: Dr. Perry Moore, Martha Moore Jackson, and USAF LT COL (Retired) Robert Moore; 13 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his parents, John Henry and Willie Mae Moore; his siblings: John H. Moore, Jr., Agnes E. Moore, William H. Moore, Emily Marie Moore; and granddaughter, Hannah M. Moore.
