Maurice Dean Preston

Maurice “Dean” Preston of Huntsville, AL passed away peacefully on Wednesday May 9th, 2018 at the age of 87.

Born in Deposit (New Market), AL, Dean served as an Airman First Class (A1C) in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict.  He worked for 34 years at the Ford Motor Company Assembly Plant in Chicago, IL after being honorably discharged from the military.   He was married to Joan (Pike) for 62 years and lived many of those in Grant Park, Illinois where they raised their two daughters Deana Jo and Jodi. 

He retired from Ford in 1987 and returned to Huntsville, Alabama with his family.

“Papa” enjoyed fishing, working in his garden, spending time with his grandchildren, piddling with his cars and keeping up with Alabama Football (Roll Tide!).

He is survived by his wife Joan, two daughters Deana Aumalis & Jodi Lemey, and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents Leslie and Shelley (Kennedy) Preston, and both his siblings, William Preston of Grant Park, Illinois and Mildred Manley of Huntsville, Alabama.

He is a member of First United Methodist Church of Grant Park, Illinois. A graveside service is planned with full military rites for Tuesday May 15^th at 11:00 am in the Garden of Memories at Huntsville Memory Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, family requests donations be made in his honor to Hospice of North Alabama.
